PT Mangole Timber Producers Becomes Indonesia’s Second SBP-certified Biomass Producer

Jakarta (12/3) — PT Mangole Timber Producers (MTP)’s wood pellet production facility in North Maluku has successfully obtained the Sustainable Biomass Program (SBP) in January 2026. This achievement makes it the second biomass producer in Indonesia to receive the certificate. The audit process was carried out by Control Union Indonesia in October last year.

SBP is an internationally recognised certification system designed to ensure sustainable production of woody biomass throughout the entire supply chain. The audit process evaluates not only the biomass producer, but also the supply base where feedstocks or raw materials are cultivated and harvested. Biomass carrying an SBP claim is accompanied by verified energy and carbon data associated with every stage of the supply chain, enabling end users—such as power utilities—to calculate carbon emissions using established carbon accounting methodologies.
